Uganda is no stranger to investment: it has consistently attracted the highest levels of foreign direct investment in the East Africa region over the past five years, attracting around US$250-300 million annually according to the World Bank. In 2009 alone, Uganda attracted FDI of up to US$ 799 million because of several reasons; including a predictable investment environment, a fully liberalised economy, good market access, a strong natural resource base and a commitment to the private sector by the government.
Since 1991, over 2000 enterprises of various sizes have committed in excess of US$2.5 billion in actual investment into the country for projects that range from agriculture, manufacturing to transportation.
