ArtBeez is a nonprofit fundraising platform where children employ their artistic talent to fundraise and earn by selling artwork or merchandise their create and design.
We believes that unlocking and harnessing creative potential of young people-especially
those who have the least opportunities in life, can enrich and transform their lives and the wider society. Through its ‘earnation’ (earning a donation) model the platform is in effect a micro social enterprise for children who are supported by charities.
In June this year we launched Artpedition Uganda- a week of art workshops for Ugandan children from the Kanungu district supported by Ugandan charity CHIFCOD.
Renowned artists Makerere University, Kampala introduced various techniques to the
children who had never had any prior art training or exposure. Godfrey Banadda, master print maker Fred Mutebi together with Ivan Yakuze (Bark cloth artist), Simon Banga (illustrator) and Fred Kisito (painter) engaged the children in painting, printmaking, Bark cloth art and drawing with pastels.
The children produced a spectacular body of art and merchandise which will be sold to fundraise via offline exhibitions and ArtBeez website. The exhibition will be opened at Uganda High Commission, London by HE Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda in
‘To be an artist, is to believe in life’ (Henry Moore) – ArtBeez founder Monica Martini, an MBA from London Business School is passionate to make that possible for every child by creating opportunities that can encourage and value the artist inside them before it’s lost forever.
